Supporting balance, coordination, core strength, motor planning and confidence with movement, playground skills and physical participation.
Running, climbing, balancing, catching and coordinating movement all draw on gross motor skills, which involve the whole body. When these are harder to master, children can feel less confident joining in play, sport and playground games.
What it can look like
- Appearing clumsy, bumping into things or tiring quickly
- Avoiding climbing, ball games or playground equipment
- Difficulty with balance, coordination or learning new movements
- Hanging back from group physical activities
How we can help
We work on core strength, balance, coordination and motor planning through active, motivating play. As physical confidence grows, so does willingness to join in with peers.
