The therapy roadmap
From your first message to ongoing support, here's what working with SenseAbility Therapy looks like, step by step.
- 1
Get in touch
Parents, carers, support coordinators, educators and other professionals can contact SenseAbility Therapy directly. A formal referral is not required.
- 2
Complete the enquiry form
Complete the online enquiry form with some initial information about your child, your concerns and the support you are looking for.
- 3
Pre-assessment call and booking
We will contact you to discuss your child's needs, answer any questions and explain the assessment process. We will then arrange the initial assessment at home, school, in the community or online, depending on your child's needs and the type of support required.
- 4
Initial assessment
The initial assessment is an interview-style appointment with the parent or caregiver. This allows us to gather background information, understand your concerns and plan which assessment approach will be most appropriate for your child.
- 5
Assessment
Standardised and non-standardised assessment methods may be used, depending on your child's needs and goals. Families can also choose to receive a written assessment report where required.
- 6
Feedback, recommendations and goal setting
We will discuss the assessment findings, provide recommendations and work with you to set meaningful goals for therapy.
- 7
Therapy begins
Therapy sessions are tailored to your child's individual goals and may include direct therapy, parent coaching, school collaboration and practical strategies to support progress between sessions.
- 8
Review
Progress is reviewed regularly with families and relevant support people. Goals and therapy approaches may be adjusted over time, and together we will decide on the most appropriate next steps.
